Elizabeth Oma Garrett

Elizabeth Oma (Gilbert) Garrett, 91, of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 28, 2023. She was the daughter to the late Burgeon and Mary (Dalton) Gilbert. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Elmer Garrett, her brothers; Ervin, Edward, and Sam Gilbert, and a sister, Betty Cole, as well as her grandson, Chris Jackson.

She attended Edneyville High School. She retired from General Electric with over 30 years of service. She loved gardening, quilting, and working with her hands, canning, and she was famous for her fried apple pies. She was a faithful member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church until her health kept her from attending. She loved the Lord and shared that love with others.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children and their spouses, Ronnie and Susan Garrett, Connie & Ted Blackwell, Bobby and Becky Garrett, her grandchildren, Jennifer King (Matt), Jason Blackwell (Jen), Lisa Furstenberg (Karl), Jeremy Blackwell (Carrie), and Braden Garrett. Great grandchildren, Garrett, Lucy, Ivy, Henry, Noah, Austin, Lily, Aaron, and Simon. She is also survived by her brother, JB Gilbert and her sister, Grace Albritton.

A funeral service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be Three o’clock Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Hendersonville, NC with Rev. Steve Scoggins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Internment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Bobby Garrett officiating. Elizabeth’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

We all know how much Elizabeth loved beautiful flowers and they are appreciated, however, if you wish to donate to a cause close to Liz’s heart, donations may be made to West Virginia missions projects through Adonia Church, 175 Ranch Vista Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Elizabeth will forever be missed by her loving and devoted family and many dear friends. May God Grant Her Eternal Rest.
