Janie B. Maxwell Bracken, born on July 25, 1947, in Transylvania County, NC, peacefully passed away on March 4, 2024,at Hendersonville Health & Rehabilitation . She was a devoted Certified Nursing Assistant throughout her career.

Janie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and found solace in her faith. She is survived by her husband of seven and a half years, William Jerry Bracken, her son Patrick E. Owen (Jacqui) of Brevard, step-daughter Debbie Maxwell Cagle (Kenny), grandchildren Dakota Owen (Amanda), J. Wyatt Owen of Brevard, Crystal, Hope, and Savannah, as well as great-grandchildren Rinoa, Kole, Bo, Brooklyn, Carter, Belle, and Kennady.

Janie was preceded in death by her father, Clyde A. Owen, mother Dora Banther, son, Clyde G. Owen, step-brother Ricky Wines, and sister Carolyn O’Shields. She is also survived by step-sisters Sherry Miller of Greensboro, Teresa Gordon of Greensboro, and Lisa Gilbert, along with step-brothers William Bill Wines Jr. of Polk County, Charles Wines, and William Riddle (Della) of Abbyville, SC.

A memorial service to honor Janie’s life will be held on Sunday, March 10th, at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Josh Martin officiating. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her.
