Matthew Joseph Lavell, known affectionately as Matt, was born on November 11, 1937, in Brooklyn, NY. He passed away on February 26, 2024, in Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 86.

Matt had a distinguished career, having worked at Fujitsu Microelectronics and later becoming an entrepreneur. He pursued his education diligently, attending Brevard High School, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, and obtaining a Masters in Electronics from Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Cannizzaro Lavell. Matt is survived by his devoted wife of almost 66 years in June, Joan Heaton Lavell. He is also survived by his loving daughters, Susan Roufberg (Erne Drake), Allison DeRosa (Edward), and Andrea Mazz (Mark), as well as his son, Ken Lavell (Laura). Matt will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew (Anna), Samantha, Nichole, Isabella, Sophia, Tyler, Brooke, and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Aubree.

A Graveside Service to honor and remember Matt will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Shepherd Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Scoggins officiating.
