Joyce Henderson Sutton, beloved sister, stepmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Born on March 22, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, Joyce lived a fulfilling life of love, compassion, and dedication.
Throughout her years, Joyce made a positive impact in various professional fields. She dedicated her time and expertise to Kanuga Conference and Hendersonville Orthopedics, leaving a lasting impression on those she worked with. Joyce’s commitment and hard work were evident in everything she did.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joyce had a deep passion for animals. She wholeheartedly loved and cared for several older pets, demonstrating her kindness and empathy towards these furry companions. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living beings and will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Albert J Henderson and Mildred R Henderson, as well as her two husbands, William Algerine Sutton and George Kovacich.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: her sister, Patricia H Shepherd of Hendersonville, NC; daughters Kimberly A Kovacich of Charleston, South Carolina and Kathryn L Kovacich of Candler, North Carolina; stepsons Archie Sutton and wife Lisa of Peace, Arizona; along with their children Christopher, Angela, Kara, Bella, and Rocky; Andy Sutton and wife Santa of Dragoon, Arizona; along with their children Oscar, Andre, Chance, and Myranda; niece Patricia M Shepherd of Poway, California; nephew William A Shepherd of Hendersonville; and lifelong friends Judy Jones, Judy Dalton, and Betsy Irving Nigh, of Hendersonville.
A private service will be held to honor Joyce’s memory and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a no-kill animal shelter of your choice. By supporting these organizations, we can continue Joyce’s legacy of compassion and care for our furry friends.
