April 23, 1936 - March 17, 2024

Patricia Allen Pope, born April 23rd , 1936, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 17th , 2024 at the Elizabeth House. Pat was loved by so many in her community and was known by many nicknames. “Packa’, as she was called by many, may very well have been the most common. After school she went on to spend 35 years working for American Enka/BASF where she became the first ever female supervisor in the company’s history. Before retiring she founded and operated Blue Ridge Beefalo with her husband Bert. She continued raising Beefalo beef cattle, gardening and farming until recently, with her loving dog Jack by her side. The accomplishments she was most proud of were being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bert Pope; infant sons, Andy and Terry Pope; her parents, Burlin and Francis Allen; and her sisters, Peggy Allen Anders and Betty Allen Gonce.

She is survived by her son Steve Pope (Vickie); granddaughters, Steelie Pope Runion (Sam) and Kiley Pope Rusk (Aaron) and her great grandchild, Levi Allen Rusk. Also surviving are her sisters Gwendolyn, Deb, Drema as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

There will be a receiving of family and friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 21 st , 2024, at Church Street Funeral Home 125 S Church St, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Packa was a part of my life for nearly every single day from 1998 thru 2021. We hooked up too few times after I retired. She was a joy to my work as well as my world. I will miss her happy face, and the joy she brought, terribly. Blessings to Steve and the other family members and friends who will have a sadness in our hearts for a long time. :'(
