Theresa Lois Justus, 73 of Hendersonville passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at The Greens of Hendersonville. She was born in Henderson County on July 15, 1950, the daughter of the late Anna Lois Thompson and L.A. Crouch.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Terrell “Terry” Justus; sister, Tamara “Tammy” Dale; step-father, Ted Dale; stepmother, Nell Crouch; half-sister, Laura Crouch and half-brother, David Crouch.

She was a professional musician, drummer, and vocalist founding the band “Orange Purple Marmalade” with her husband, Arthur Terrell “Terry” Justus. Later, in 1975, that band became known as the “Justice Band”. During the Justice Band era, Theresa quickly earned the title of the “Queen of the Drums”, with her live show performances and drum solos.

She traveled the East Coast and the Midwest with the “Justice Band”, sharing her talents and touching the lives of many people in over 27 US states. Theresa also resided for short periods of time in Houston, TX and Chesapeake, VA with her son before moving back home in 2017. She cherished the memories she made and the connections she formed. Each place left its mark on her journey, enriching her life with new experiences and perspectives. She will be remembered for her love of family, life, and music.

Surviving is her son, Christian Justus and his wife, Marie Justus of Hendersonville, NC and her brother, Sidney Crouch of Hartsville, SC.

No formal services are planned, however the family invites and welcomes all interested family and friends to join them in celebrating the life of their beloved “Queen of the Drums” on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Crab Creek Community Center. More details to be announced on social media soon.
