Vickie May Worsham, a beloved sister extraordinaire, poet and avid reader passed away on February 5, 2024, in Hendersonville, NC. She was born on January 18, 1945, in Shreveport, LA. At the time of her passing, Vickie was 79 years old.
Vickie had a passion for words and literature, which she pursued through her creative endeavors as a published poet. She found fulfillment in her role as a volunteer at the Hendersonville library and the ASPCA in Burnsville. Her dedication to these causes showcased her compassionate nature and love for helping others.
Vickie received her education from St. Vincent’s Academy and the University of South Louisiana, where she honed her skills and nurtured her love for language. She was also an active member of St. John In the Wilderness Church in Flat Rock, NC, where she found solace and spiritual guidance.
Vickie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Charles A. Worsham, her beloved daughter Tiffani L. Worsham, her father Douglas K. May, her mother Eunice T. May, and her brothers Kenneth M. May and Dennis M. May. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Surviving family members include her sisters Sherry A. Bennett (Clint) of Crystal River, FL, Jenny M. McDowell (Mike K) of Shreveport, LA, and Lisa M. Pipkin (John) of Inverness, FL, as well as her brothers Stephen D. May of Inverness, FL, and Scott A. May (Lisa) of Shreveport, LA. Vickie also leaves behind numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude or The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, organizations close to Vickie’s heart.
Throughout her life, Vickie resided in various places, including Madison, MS, Lilburn, GA, Baton Rouge, LA, and Burnsville, NC. Her adventurous spirit allowed her to embrace new experiences and create lasting memories in each location.
Vickie May Worsham will be remembered for her warm heart, her kindness, keen sense of humor and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral Mass, led by Reverend Ian Williams, will take place at 1:00 PM at Church Street Funeral & Cremation. A reception will follow the Memorial Mass.
