Gifts & Memorial Donations

Silas Briggs, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 30, 2023, in his home. He was a lifelong resident of Horse Shoe, NC.

A Jack of all trades, Silas was an avid water-skier, sharpshooter, keen coin collector, legendary backhoe operator, a soft heart for animals, devoted husband, a dedicated dad, and extraordinary granddaddy.

He and his wife, Kathy, spent forty plus years working side by side creating Briggs Garden Center after landscaping all over western North Carolina for thirty years prior. Each year when business slowed down Silas took his family to the Outer Banks for a wonderful week by the ocean.

Silas is survived by the love of his life, Kathy of 51 years; two devoted sons Curt and his wife, Gail and Paul and his wife, Angie; his seven grandchildren who held a very special place in his heart and life, Maddie, Bella, Zane, Gage, Jax, Becca and Tanner. Also surviving is his sister, Wanda Griffiths.

He, with the twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face, will forever be loved and missed in the hearts and lives of his family, friends, and anyone whose life he touched.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Silas Briggs will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive guests at Church Street Funeral & Cremation on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Anchor Baptist Missions Warehouse/Food Program, 3232 Hendersonville Hwy., Pisgah Forest, N.C. 28768.
